Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Punta di Villa 2018 (Mazzi)

Located in the province of Verona, in the historic area of Negrar, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico wine region, the Mazzi winery has been managed since 1960 aby Roberto Mazzi, today assisted żeby his sons Stefano and Antonio. The company, which has been producing wine since the beginning of the 20th century, owns approximately 7 hectares of vineyards, called Calcarole, Castel, Poiega, and Villa, that produce the grapes for the Recioto and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and Valpolicella Classico Superiore. This wine is a blend of the local varieties Corvina, Rondinella, with small additions of Corvinone and Molinara. The grapes are sourced from the Villa vineyard. After the harvest, the grapes are left to dry until mid-February. Then, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel tanks for approximately 21 days. The finished wine is then aged for 4 years in oak barrels and tonneaux. Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Punta di Villa has an intense red color with ruby reflections and a broad aromatic profile with ripe red fruit notes and spicy hints. In the mouth, the wine is round, robust, and warm. It has a full body and a long finish with vaguely bitter notes. The perfect wine for braised game or red meat.
