Drink it now or cellar for up to 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the heart of the Progreso wine region in Uruguay's Canelones department, the Familia Deicas estate spans over 60 hectares of vineyards. Here, the company, managed today by the third generation of the family, grows several grape varieties, including Tannat, the most representative grape of the country. Preludio is the company's most representative wine, produced from a blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The grapes are selected and harvested aby hand. After a maceration of approximately 3 weeks and fermentation, the wine rests in barrels in the ancient underground cellars of the estate for approximately 24-30 months, with a six-monthly selection of the best barrels, before the final blend. The wine reveals an intense color with red-purple tones and some violet reflections. On the nose, the wine is complex and persistent with notes of ripe berries, flowers, spices, and coffee. On the palate, it is concentrated and full, round and soft, with elegant tannins and a long finish that recalls fruity notes. It can be enjoyed now with grilled meat and beef brisket, but it may evolve beautifully within a couple of decades in the cellar.
