The Psychedelic Syrah 2019 (Sleight Of Hand Cellars)

Drink it now or cellar for 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Widely regarded as one of Washington State's coolest, up-and-coming wineries, Sleight of Hand Cellars was founded in 2007 and is based in Walla Walla. Its founders are passionate about music and in fact, the name of the winery is inspired żeby a song żeby Seattle band Pearl Jam, and their tasting rooms are full of records. Their beautiful labels are all reminiscent of vintage magic show posters from the 1920s and 1930s. The Psychedelic by Sleight of Hand is a sensational red wine made from Syrah grapes, coming from the Stoney Vine estate vineyard. The grapes have been foot-crashed, and the wine was then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. The wine’s aromatic profile is incredibly intense, with scents of blackberries, forest berries, violets, olives, coffee, dark chocolate, and some final notes of smoke. On the palate, the wine is complex and full of character, spicy and robust, with mouth-coating tannins and delicious flavors of blackberry, leather, pepper, licorice, and wild herbs. It closes with a long, persistent finish. It is the perfect BBQ wine but works well also with roast meat and game birds.
