Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a dry, full-bodied wine from Mendoza, the winemaking heart of Argentina. It opens with a mouth-watering bouquet of plum, ripe cherry, and fresh hedgerow fruits, all supported by earthy hints of tobacco and leather. It is crafted from 100% Malbec, sourced exclusively from the winery’s own vineyard in the town of Las Compuertas. Durigutti Family Winery was founded in 2002, but it was 2007 before Héctor and Pablo (the two brothers behind the winery) acquired their first vineyard. They named it Finca Victoria after their mother, and it is populated by 100-year-old Malbec vines that lend an extraordinary maturity to this red. In a little under 20 years, they have turned the winery into a cornerstone of Mendoza tourism, and a true haven for high-quality Argentinian wine. Malbec 1914 is full-bodied and silky, perfectly balancing elegance with opulence. The grapes were fermented in egg-shaped concrete tanks before being aged in a 2000-litre oak cask for 5 months. You can discover notes of plum, cherry jam, violet and lavender, on top of an earthy foundation of tobacco smoke and sun-baked leather. Malbec 1914 is a perfect wine for pairing with steak, soft cheese, or any kind of grilled red meat.
