Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for an hour before serving. This is a royal purple GSM blend, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, from the southern end of the Rhône Valley. It is a full-bodied, dry red wine, with all of the hallmarks of the Gigondas region - you can discover thick scents of blackberry, cassis and blueberry, underpinned aby hints of spice, dried herbs and black pepper. Domaine Brusset can be found in the beating heart of the southern Rhône Valley, in the commune of Cairanne. It has been a mainstay of the region for a long time, founded in 1947 by André Brusset, and managed today aby his grandson, Laurent. He takes fruits from a total of 70 hectares, with vines in esteemed appellations such as Ventoux, Rasteau, and the home of powerful reds, Gigondas. Composed of 55% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah, this wine is a deep crimson in the glass, with a rich, fruit-laden palate. Partial oak ageing has imparted a subtle, woody outline, and there is also a slight minerality to be discovered, from the limestone-rich soils. However, the palate is dominated aby hints of blueberry, blackberry and cassis, leading into a herby finish. Consider pairing Les Hauts de Montmirail Gigondas with fine meats, casseroles, or aged cheese.
