Cellar for up to 20 or more years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. Les Clos begins with a deep, concentrated bouquet of orchard fruit, citrus rind and rose petals. The vineyard is located on a hillside in the heart of the Chablis appellation, allowing for maximum sunshine. While it appears powerful and almost masculine on the nose, the palate reveals a more nuanced, expressive character. Louis Michel & Fils have played an important part in defining the Chablis style. The family have been in the region since the 19th century and have adopted a strict no-oaking policy when creating their wines. Along with the encyclopedic knowledge of the land that managers Jean-Loup Michel and Guillaume Gicqueau-Miche bring to the table, this allows for an incredibly pure expression of the region of Chablis. It is a medium-bodied wine, boasting crisp acidity and a strong mineral edge. Green apple skin and citrus fruits meet with flavours of melon and orange blossom on the palate - you can also discover hints of seashell and chalk. Les Clos is an excellent, generous example of the Chablis style, and for newcomers, it is a fantastic wine to start with. You can cellar it for many years, and pair it with bold dishes such as rabbit, smoked fish, or aged cheese.
