Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2021 (Scriani)

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for one hour. The Scriani winery is a family-run business owned aby the Cottinis, and located in Fumane in the Valpolicella Classico wine region. The vineyards extend over approximately 28 hectares of land, at an altitude ranging from 250 to 400 meters above sea level, with vines aged between nine and fifty years. The wine is produced from a classic blend of local grapes (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta) coming from the company vineyards Mandolari, Bosco, Tondin, Ronchiel, and La Costa. The harvest is manual and the wine is obtained with the traditional Ripasso method which consists of fermenting the grapes on the Amarone pomace to give it more structure and aromas. The finished wine is then aged for around 20 months in oak barrels and then rests for a further 6 months in the bottle, before being marketed. The Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore from the Scriani winery has a deep ruby red color. Its aromatic profile reveals intense notes of dark fruit, such as plum, black cherry, and cassis, and notes of undergrowth. On the palate, it is rich, complex, and robust. The finish is long and recalls fruity notes. Excellent with roast meat or pasta served with game ragu.
