Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. The Gosset family are deeply embedded in the history and folklore of Champagne. In 1584, the Royal Mayor of Aÿ, Pierre Gosset, opened his cellar doors for the first time. Since then, 16 generations of the Gosset family have continued the wine-making tradition, crafting some truly excellent Champagne from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes. The signature Gosset style is a savoury Champagne. Although they have completely eschewed the process of malolactic fermentation, their sparkling wines manage to retain an incredibly creamy texture, with prominent yeast notes. The Grand Millesime Brut is a perfect example of their timeless style, made from 59% Chardonnay and 41% Pinot Noir. The nose is a perfect balance of fresh fruit and warm pastry. Acidic notes of lemon and soft peach mingle with savoury, mouth-watering hints of apple strudel and freshly baked croissants. The palate is lively and effervescent, with flavours of fresh fruit, lemon zest and yeast enveloping the tongue. It leads to a clean, saline finish that leaves you wanting more. A modest dosage of 4g/l keeps the wine fresh, without inhibiting its incredible character. Consider drinking it with tender, spicy meals, such as lamb tagine, or tart desserts such as lemon pie.
